Bowling Ball Beach

Parking for this rare gem of a beach is at the same place as the trail head for Schooner Gulch Beach. The "bowling balls" are large geological formations called concretions, which have eroded out of the Cenozoic mudstone still seen in the cliffs that form the beach. At high tide, these concretions will be completely submerged; accordingly, one should only visit here at a very low or negative tide. If the conditions are right, this place is magical.
